The British Standard regulations state that fire alarms should be tested every week by the person responsible for the fire safety within the building.

This should be carried out on the same day at the same time each week to avoid any confusion.

After each test the results should be recorded.

In the event that there is a fault with the fire alarm the person responsible should call their Fire Safety Contractor to rectify the situation.

As well as the weekly tests, the fire alarm system needs testing and inspecting by a competent person with specialist knowledge of fire detection and fire alarm systems.
